Exploring the intersection of materials, chemistry, and design.

Using this tool incorrectly can permanently "brick" your device. Always ensure you have a full backup and are using the correct firmware for your specific model. You can find the latest official updates and documentation on the bkerler GitHub repository.

The MediaTek Client Tool is a specialized Python-based utility that interacts with the "BootROM" (BROM) of MediaTek processors. By exploiting vulnerabilities in the chipset's boot sequence, the tool allows users to bypass security measures like Bootloader Locking and Authentication (DA/Auth) to perform low-level operations.

One of the most critical features. It allows users to bypass the authentication requirements enforced by manufacturers (like Xiaomi, Vivo, or Oppo), enabling access to the device even when it's locked.

Always back up the NVRAM and NVDATA partitions before any operation. These contain your unique device identification (IMEI/Baseband). Losing them results in "No Service" issues.

Inside the Lab

Our Impact and Collaborations

We are proud that the Smart Materials Lab is the leading team in impactful chemistry research in the United Arab Emirates, with research output that, according to the Nature Index, accounts for 40‒60% of the total chemistry publications within the country, both in fractional count and weighed fractional count. The past and current research projects in the Smart Materials Lab have been sponsored by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), Human Science Frontier Program Organization (HFSPO), and the UAE National Research Foundation (NRF), in addition to generous financial support from NYUAD and the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute. The members of the Smart Materials Lab work closely with NYUAD's Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM).
