The story goes that Shino Izumi was a spirit, a yōkai , who possessed supernatural powers and was often associated with natural phenomena, such as the full moon, rivers, and forests. Her character has been interpreted in many ways, ranging from a benevolent deity to a malevolent spirit, reflecting the complexities of Japanese mythology.

As of late 2025, Shino Izumi has announced a hiatus from touring to focus on a new project: a collaborative album with a traditional koto player from Kyoto.
