Gravostyle 98 represents a specific era in the transition from mechanical to computer-aided engraving. Released in the late 1990s, it was the standard interface for Gravograph's IS and M series engraving machines. For many small trophy shops and industrial marking facilities, this was the software that bridged the gap between vector design and G-code machine control.

Unlike modern cloud-based design software, Gravostyle 98 is a local, dongle-protected application that communicates directly with Gravotech engravers via parallel ports (LPT) or early serial (RS-232) connections.
