For all the celebration, we must acknowledge the asterisk. The "Mature Women Renaissance" is still disproportionately white. While we have (the ageless powerhouse of How to Get Away with Murder and The Woman King ) and Angela Bassett (still stunning in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ), the opportunities for women of color over 50 remain statistically thinner. The intersection of ageism and racism creates a compounded barrier that the industry has only begun to dismantle.
